« on: March 11, 2011, 10:57:12 AM »
Hi!

just wanted to share with you this new tutorial on my site! :)

http://thelazyforger.com/index.php/tutorials/preparing-a-plaster-board/

Plaster Boards are something extremely useful for some modelling challenges. And i think that everyone should have some of them on his table! : )

Anyway, soon i'll publish a tutorial on how to make a nice tiled floor, so you can find a use for those boards! :)

hope you like,
Jack

You missed the Lazy part of the Lazyforger website.  lol
Nice tutorial on making a plaster sheet.  My question is are you using the plaster as a master material, or as the finished piece?  If it is the final piece, what type of plaster are you using?  All of my dental plaster is a bit too strong to scribe, and the Plaster of Paris will not stand up to abuse.

(actually i use a kind of dental plaster, i like that it is hard, it is much more accurate!)

For all who were dubious about the usefullness of this tutorial:

very good tutorial

have You ever tried sawing the plaster with a thin twisted wire?
applying vibration to the glass to get rid of the air bubbles? (electrical air brush)
mixing the plaster with white glue for better stability?

@former user:

1 - it could work pretty well, but i think that it is a bit  fragile to do that! :)
2 - that's a good idea! for me is enought a few taps for remove the bubbles! ^^
3 - it makes it MUCH stronger, but you can't use it for sculpting, then! it is too much... plastic! :)
