I found the site

www.miniaturetree.com

where model date palms, acacias, and gum trees can be purchased. They are a bit on the expensive side, but for instance a couple of acacias combined with a lot of high golden-brown grass would make for a terrific savanna for those big-game hunters - and for the more oriental-inclined, gum plantations could be a hoot  :)

Odd though it may sound, I actually opted for Schleich toy trees, robust, easy to obtain and huge !
But useful for a single tree in the middle of the Savannah.

I've just realised I've absolutely no idea how big Acacias, Baobabs etc are in real life!

Do these Schleich trees measure up accurately to 28mm, or are they better for the more "fantastical" Darkest Africa games?

I think, Schleich trees are a bit on the big side, usually they aren't really tall

I think they're a bit big. Baobab trees, though, can reach immense sizes, and I'm going to get me at least one to use as a 'sacrificial-tree' or 'burial-tree' for a secretive and probably very hostile tribe...

Ok, thanks fellas. I tend to play non-historical DA games, so I don't really mind if they are big. I'll have to remember not to use them in more sensible games, though

Cheers,
Ian
