Frodo and Gladriel

A couple of Lord of the Rings models for SoBH

Hoping to use this in a little mini game down the club for a Weathertop scenario for when the Nazgul lower Frodo's will enough for him to put on the ring.

An absolute gem of a model, I'm really pleased with it, especially the hair.

Nice job on Galadriel. The slightly green shading does a lot to enhance the woodland queen image and it sets a nice contrast to the golden tresses...  ;)

Painting an invisible Frodo is really some hard task. I was never comfortable with the clear resin/plastic models that have been around. I think I like your idea somewhat better. And since there are models of the twilight shadow ringwraiths around which will have to be painted as well I think your idea is very consistent with the way they could be painted.

Really nice paint job on both figures. I recognize the Galadriel as being a GW, but I don't recognize Frodo. Which company did he come from?

Your Galadriel is one of the BEST paint jobs I've seen in a LOOOOOONG time.

Sir, you're very talented and I hate you  ;).

Thanks for sharing such a pair of lovely minis.

Best wishes.
I know you're too old to play with toy soldiers. So give them to me... NOW!

Thankyou for the kind comments, they really help motivate me!

I picked the Frodo model up from ebay, I'm almost certain he is a GW model. There was a see-through resin limited edition of the model produced and I think this is the metal release that came after. I got him for 99p + £1.20 postage either way, which I thought was a bargin - he's a lovely model.

I thought it WAS the clear resin model (which I have somewhere), just with paint on, so I think you are right.  :)

I have been thinking about this theme of ghostly/invisible/see-through models; would it make them more 'other-worldly' to 'reverse' the shading/highlighting - like with fire - so as to make them look more 'lit up' from the inside?

Haven't tried it, just thought of it after painting an old GW ghost model in some eerie green colours.

Sounds interesting. If you have a go, let us know how it turned out  :)

I was tempted to try and do some subtle wash shading, in a suitably ghostly colour, on my invisible Frodo. Never got around to it, but I may try it if I can find him.

Galadriel is indeed beautifully painted and really does justice to the lovely Cate  :-*

Yes, the green shading actually works so good, that I did not realize it being green before reading Doomhippie's comment. Nicely done, indeed!
