Union Jack and MI-13 squad
« on: July 08, 2011, 01:38:35 AM »
Some radio chatter in the Carpathians.

March Hare, this is Dormouse, we have visual contact with the target. Are you in position? Over...

Dormouse, this is March Hare. We're almost there. Over...

Nigel:"Mikey, who hands out these bloody call-signs anyways?"
Mikey: I hear its the new Boffin at HQ. Miss Liddle, and I hear she's quite a looker"
Nigel: Is that the bird that tumbled out of the mirror over in the restricted warehouse where they keep all the ghoulie gear?
Mikey: That's her, rumor is she was locked up in there for 50 years. She don't look to be more than 20 at best."

March Hare to Dormouse: What's the word from White Knight? His spookies find us a way in? Over...

Dormouse to March Hare: He must be hard at work. I can hear him but I can't understand a word he's sayin'. Its like hes a widdershins gramophone.
Dormouse to Mad Hatter are you in position? Over...

Mad hatter here, we're in place. Any sign of the Red Queen? (giggle) Over...

Red Queen here. Ready to roll. Problem with my call sign Hatter?
Dormouse where's White Rabbit? Over..

Dormouse to Red Queen: Late as usual I'm afraid sir. Oh wait I hear him coming through the woods now.
Dormouse to White Rabbit: What kept you O'Hare? Over

White Rabbit in position. Sorry I'm late. Ran into a truck full of Partizans and had to help them get it out of the ditch after.

Red Queen to all units: Glad you could make it White Rabbit. We've got a biter down there in that ruin. He's got some friends with him. Let's smoke them out and stake them down. Red Queen Out.

We're going to be playing some WWW2 using the Chaos in Cairo rules with some adaptations for unit combat. This is a squad from MI-13 led by Union Jack. The walker is a converted AT 43 figure.

Thanks for looking.

Union Jack is made from a Super Figs brawler. I added the pistol from a Confrontation figure and made the pistol belt and the dagger out of green stuff.

Thanks,

Mike

The game went ok. We had six players which is about two too many for a decent play time. We're using the Chaos in Cairo rules modified to accept squad SMG's and LMG's as part of a henchmen groups and some more detailed vehicle rules. We'll be doing it again next Friday.

Aside from sub machine guns, not really. I'm still tuning the vehicle rules.

What would be a Russian version of Union Jack?  Not soviet, but Russian ie a white russian holdout force.

Vodka Vince?   terrible Ivan?  Ricky Rodina?  Kraszny Nyet!?

Hmm... how about run the Sorcerer Rasputin with his magically-augmented super-soldier, (thrall), and symbol of the counter-revolution, Alexei the Grand Duke.

He'd be about the right age...

Alexei never died.. nor did Rasputin, it was Soviet Propaganda... it was well known that Rasputin was the only one able to keep Alexei in health, having saved his life on more than one occasion, so when the revolution struck, Rasputin secreted the young Grand Duke away and with his black magic gave the young man even greater power, so that one day he could spearhead the return of Empire, become Tzar, with Rasputin pulling the strings of course...

Could be a good background.

Laughing ferret, I like your idea, but I think I found something I like better.

I just found out about a Polish born Jewish strongman from the 20's.  Named Zischa Breitbart, or Sigmund in German.  He bacame an American citizen in 1923.  He was billed in Germany as the Eisen Koenig (Iron King), and was supposed to be able to stop a train. He wore a cape on occasion and often wore Roman style garb.
In the US he was promoted as....The Superman of the ages, a man of steel.  He performed in 1923 and 1924 in both Toronto and Cleveland, where  Jerry Siegal and Joe Schuster were impressionable 9 year-olds.  They both went on in June 1938 to create a comic book hero of some repute....Superman.
He had worked as a blacksmith as a young man and sometimes did his stunts in a leather apron.  He was known to bend steel bars into various shapes.

There is a super-hero in there somewhere.
