Renovating forgotten miniatures
« on: 23 August 2011, 12:21:49 AM »
I've been looking at my old Nurgle Chaos Space Marines to see if they can be finished off.  Unfortunately only five of them can be saved as the others have myriad faults that are beyond fixing including poor construction, horrific abuse of the colour red and a height reduction suffered by the champion when I tried removing the 'snow' base he was on.

Anyway the five who can be saved (and the others I'll add to their number) need your help.  The colour scheme I used is Catachan green on the eyes and shoulder trim while the metal armour got blasted back in 2009 by the addition of Gryphonne Sepia, Devlan Mud and Badab Black in that order.  Therefore any tips for renovation would be greatly appreciated, though I would like to keep the armour the way it is as somehow it looks more Nurgly.

P.S. the Bolters and Meltagun will probably get the same treatment as the armour (and the dust is due to me having to rush in taking the pictures).

Some blacklining, spot highlights, and maybe some weather/grime on the armour would be good starts. Those will sharpen things up and return a lot of lost detail to the figures.

Armour does look fine for Nurgle - eyes need tidying up a bit, otherwise it's not so bad for chaos marines, methinks  :)
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!
