GW Ruined My Day!

Me and Kalle went to our local GW shop some time ago, and resupplied some stuff, paint and the like. While we where there, we realized that there are several really nice items that can be bought for a relatively cheap price, and above all, will save time.
The first items where the two hills, both of wich would be easy enough for us to build and make good looking, all material and skill are allready at hand, however, here you get two very good looking hills ready to go, just some paint and grass and voilà ready terrain, something that we appreciate very much, so we can consentrate on building the stuff that we want to spend our time and effort on, like buildings and such.
While browsing the various ready to go terrain that are available in the sortiment of Games Workshop I noticed that there was a ruin set, appearantly for the Lords of the Ring. Same thing here, we could very easy build something like this, but, the set looked good and was relatively cheap, considering the time saved, hence I bought a test set.

This is what I made out of it, and what the whole set will look like when ready. We decided to get one or two more of these, since they are exellent for our on going project.















I will post some more tomorrow, when I have more parts ready. It was easy enough to enhance the ruins (great surface for painting due to the texture) by adding some tufts, moss and wines.

Nice vines! They're a lot more realistic than most others you usually see.  They actually look like leaves.

Oh, and that's a horrible pun in your title.  Consider yourself chastised!

Nice set did you buy them from GW online or maelstrom? As the maelstrom one is some pounds cheaper.

BTW, the paintjob looks great!

Those particular ruins are one of GW best offerings, because they are not specifically tailored to their official settings.  They could be used anywhere you need old ruins.

Thank you guys, much appreciated. The wines where made from Seafoam wich I spraypainted black, then soaked in PVA glue and then flocked with leaves (Anteocitis I belive, or something like it).

Yes, I agree, absolutely one of the best kits they offer, reasonable price, generic outlook and with the added planking for skirmish wargaming and two statues that can be used where ever.

I picked this up at my local GW shop here in Stockholm, but yeah, I would use an online vendor like Maelstrom normally, but this was a impulse purchase.

I have 2 or 3 of the same kits. Easy to build and versatile. With a hobby saw and some imagination you can build a whole city.

The main reason for us to buy this set, and why we will get another (at least) was the time saving factor, and as you say, easy to build and paints up well enough. Not hard to convert either, with rather little effort.

Everything you do is full of win! I wonder if one day you could lay out your whole collection of terrain as one giant playing area and take some pictures!
