A sweet ride for my Riflethings?
« on: 11 November 2011, 12:13:04 AM »
So I'm starting to paint up my Khurasan 15mm Riflethings.  I want them to give some kind of urban transport, but the 15mm/1:100 sci-fi APC's I've seen at GZG, Combat Wombat etc. don't seem to do it for me.  These guys seem like they need something more truck or armored-car-like, kind of ugly too.  I've also considered basing it on a FoW Quad Tractor but they're kind of obviously WW2-looking.  Anyone have any other ideas?

Great figures and a lovely paintjob you've done on them too!

I love the subdued tone.

Edited to clarify that's Khurasan's photo, not mine.  My squad are still a half-painted mess.

Thanks for the suggestions!  I wish more of Antenociti's awesome 28mm vehicles were available in 15mm too (it does say the "Hunchback" apc is being done in 15mm for early next year).  As for the Khurasan Locust, that's very close to what I want... but being a difficult fellow, I'm trying to avoid the obvious choice ;)

How about the South African vehicles from Brigade?

Or the Gecko from Old Crow?

Mine ride in Kaamados Dominion - Dractamaa APCs - can't get much more truck and ugly than that!

Failing that Old Crow Claymore Heavy APC are really meaty vehicles to throw aroung the tabletop.

The Old Crow Claymore and Dragoon half-track are both pretty cool.  Those Kaamados things are pretty ugly, though I like the six-wheeled armored cars even better!

EDIT: odd that when you make text a hyperlink, there's no visual indication it's a link, hence me manually underlining things like some kind of underline-happy jackass :P

If it helps, I have some comparison pictures available of minis from a lot of companies and especially vehicles.  This might give you an idea of other miniatures that will work with your Riflethings.

The newer pictures have the labels. I've been overworked the last several months, so not as many updates as I planned, but I should get an update in during the holidays with a lot more Rebel Minis, Khurasan, Combat Wombat, Micropanzer, Antenociti's Workshop and hopefully Ravenstar vehicles. Basically a lot of the new stuff that came out since the last update. Hopefully it will help you decide on scale and compatibility of the lines you are looking at buying.

Lots of other pictures in my SkyDrive folders as well.

Wow JRacel, all else aside I really like your image provider.  So easy to navigate :)  Imageshack and Photobucket usually give me nothing but grief...

Thanks for that resource, anyway.  It really does show the scales perfectly, as well as showing some flattering angles of the Combat Wombat stuff (their website is not my favorite tbh...).

No Such Agency,

My image provider is Microsoft.  Skydrive is a service Microsoft offers to premium Hotmail users.  I pay something each year, don't remember how much off hand but it's not a lot, for a higher level of service on my hotmail account and get SkyDrive access with it.  Lots of storage for pictures and documents.  It's worth every cent.

JRacel's the king of online photos.  If I wasn't still trying to prop up our business website I'd be following in his footsteps.  :)

How about the Khurasan Lion transport?  It's huge, ugly, intimidating, and not just for felids by any means:

The turret is easily left off, just cover the mounting hole with some plasticard.  For bonus points, make a top hatch instead.
