Hello from Canberra
« on: 21 December 2011, 06:28:56 AM »
I am a retired Australian Army Infantryman - 34 years with the Colours.

I am most fortunate that I have five grandsons aged between 8 and 15 who regularly model, paint and wargame with me.  Our most popular games are Pirates (28 mm), French and Indian War (28 mm), World War II - New Guinea 1942 - 1945 (20 mm), and American Civil War (28 mm).  I suspect that these genre are most popular because of the influence of films; Pirates of the Caribbean, Last of the Mohicans, Kokoda and Gettysburg.  I also have modest armies for Napoleonic - Peninsular War (28 mm) and English Civil War (28 mm).

I have enjoyed myself as a long time lurker on this forum and have been inspired by many of the contributions.  I now hope to contribute a little.  I hope to get a new digital camera for Christmas!!

It seems you can't take away the army from you! 34 years in the infantry is very good.

Welcome to the forum and look forward to seeing some of your collections in photographs.

Cheers,

Helen
Best wishes,
Helen

Welcome indeed Sunray. Glad you're on board.

You will have seen Blackwolf in thee threads quite a bit. He's a Goulburn lad so Canberra isn't that far.

It's an open invitation to meeting in the Soldiers Club in Goulburn by the way. A very civilised place to indulge yourself.

I wish I could say the same for Goulburn itself  ;) (Steps back from fuse)

If you ever want to get in some extra gaming you might want to try the Canberra Gaming Society (CGS). We meet Thurs nights and there are a large number of historical gamers in the club. There is a CGS website and yahoo group where you can find more info and set up games. CGS wll also be putting on the CANCON gaming convention in Jan.
