new to horror, rules ?
« on: 19 March 2012, 01:57:04 PM »
Hi all,
I'm mainly a fantasy gamer for the last umpten years, but after reading a bunch of Lovecraft and horror over Xmas have decided to try and get into some horror gaming.
After reading most of the game reviews I think CIC or Starnge Aeons are the rulesets i am most considering.
Definately needs to be skirmish, with character advancment ala mordheim.
I think I would like to set the games in the dark ages/ medievel times ( everyone has tons of minis and terrain), to start with, and then maybe work the players into the 1920's, once they get interested.
Would any of those rulesets work?

Thanks

I own the Strange Aeons rules and love the game. Simple and easy to play. Very interactive community also.

I'd 2nd Strange Aeons if you're interested in gaming in the Cthulhu/pulp/horror sub genre.  I've purchased a number of other miniature game rule books over the past few years none of the other offered the structure and character advancement as well as the scenario game types that Strange Aeons offers with the variety of Lovecraftian monsters.

I would also recommend Strange Aeons. Very fun game and easy to learn with quite a lot of depth to the rules. Also very active devellopers, with a couple expansions on the horizon.

My vote too goes for Strange Aeons, easy to get started, lots of options and stuff to keep you interested and going as you may want to expand.
