Brunswick Reserve Battalions 1815
« on: December 30, 2011, 09:21:49 PM »
So, in a massive attempt to save painting time, I am thinking of making a Brunswick army in 2012 and ditching my Prussians.  The main problem is size, there is only a Leib Regiment, 3 Line, 3 Light, 2 Avantgarde, 2 units of cavalry and some artillery.  These troops are all made by Perry and I have the Osprey for uniforms.

I would like a 3rd brigade and noted that there were 5 regiments of Reseves and a Landwehr unit. Uniform info in the Osprey is sketchy and seems to imply that they wore the same uniform as the Avantgarde but in black with white edging.  Can anyone add to this and suggest suitable figures, I assume Perry's avantgarde would be suitable?

not so visible because of the size but according to this plate the reserve battalion wore the schirmutze and the erzatz (Ladwehr) battalion the korsehut.

Thanks, I had seen this print, but it is quite indistinct, but it looks as if I could use Warlord Landwehr for the reserves and the avante garde for the Landwehr.  Any other thoughts?

Could do.
I think that the reserve regiments (as far as I can see at the small picture) have respectively light blue, yellow, orange, red and green facings and the ersatz battalion seem to have black (propably with white 'passepoil' as I 've read somewhere else)

Mayb I'll buy those plates just to know for sure.
