A wee Otherworld Skeleton :)
« on: 13 March 2012, 12:21:20 PM »
Point blank I think the Otherworld skeletons are the best ones out there. They are so much in the spirit of Jason and the Argonauts it's untrue! It was also a great fun thing to paint :) . Here you go...

Cheers :) . With regards to the sword, I don't have a specific recipe, but it went something along the lines of:

Base: Scorched brown/Dwarf bronze
Shade: Brown wash

then back to the original mix
Purple wash
Then start gradually using a bronze highlight with increasingly more amounts of a silver in there.
(I tend to splash on a very thin purple glaze after each highlight to keep things smoothish)
The oxidised effect was simply a turquoise.dark green wash (very thin) liberally applied and then just highlighting that up a bit with increasing amounts of white.
The only other thing I did was a minute drybrush of a pure gold colour near the hilt - just added a bit of variety on the thing.

That sounds rather complex and overlong, but really it doesn't take much time I promise :)

I can only echo what others have said;
Your use of colours have really added to, what could have been a very plain (colour-wise) miniature.

Lovely!

That is a VERY NICELY DONE skeleton with, as you said, a decidedly Harryhausen look to him/her.
