« on: March 02, 2012, 12:30:52 PM »
Found these stamps with tribal costumes. Lovely pics for painting some DA characters.

Wow! Those are smashing images. Thanks, KC.

Hungry for more I went net-hunting and found some others:

Just wish I could find some bigger pics these stamps.

Some bigger ones, unfortunately obscuring one another...

Edit: Reasonably-sized pic of the whole lot, too big to show on the forum:

Ooh nice find KC. Which figs do I use for a unit of stilt walking Duruma? ;)
Heres some Kenyan warriors from the 1880s. Which tribe?

 ;D Plynkes, you're the man!

I'm building a Masai force for DitDC and these pics are just what I needed to get some conversion ideas for possible opposition. At the moment I have two Masai "Moran" and one Meru units (60 figs total) + one bow of armed skirmishers and one with muskets. I found pics and old photos of Meru warriors but don't know how the Dorobo and Arusha looked like.  :?

Arusha would be hard to tell apart from Masai, except that they had a few guns. They retained their Masai culture, the thing that set them apart was that they were exiles who had lost their cattle, so couldn't be considered as Masai by the "true" Masai.

Ndorobo:

There's a Dorobo fellow in one of the colour plates of the Osprey covering the Great War in East Africa. He looks pretty much like the chap on the left with the bow in the above photo. His 'toga' and short hair are red and he has a Masai-style short sword in a scabbard at his waist.

Nice! I guess I'll use the Foundry Native bowmen with short hair for the N'dorobo instead of the braided air types... Or mix both...  ::)

Here are a few photos of Meru fellows (and a couple other tribes). I'll have to guess what colours to paint them but looks like a lot of black and white will be used   :D

Nice photos. Just imagine what Mark Copplestone could do with these info.

Found this colour image of a Meru shield. Is it really blue or age altered the pygment? I think I'll paint the Meru shields with blue to give them a distinctive look from the Masai.

Greetings

Do you have those moments when you hear/see something and it triggers something else ?
For me the trigger was this ..
.. my Arusha   :-*

Sorry for the OT, please ignore me and continue
Magnificent pictures by the way
