Favourite Skeleton or zombie sculptor (advice wanted)
« on: 09 September 2014, 01:55:16 AM »
I'm thinking of starting up a small range of skeletons / zombies, dwarfs, elves, beastmen, orcs, and possibly even bigger things, trolls, giants and maybe even some monsters.
Who are your favourite skeleton / zombie sculptors?
And also, what sort of others are under represented?

Cheers

Beefy

(all just in contemplation at the moment)

I had a sense of déjà vu seeing your post. The same question was posed not long ago: :)

lol don't remember that thread, a. I answered in it. That's funny. Cheers for the link. Feel like I'm copying now. But been thinking about it for some time.
Just changed the title to include zombies as well.

At the risk of simply sounding like an echo to the other thread I really like the Otherworld ones.

I'd like to see a) undead that are not just human and b) undead that still have the remnants of their clothing/equipment from when they were alive.

Oh and a Gelatinous Cube skeleton  lol

lol okay, here's a pic of the gelatinous cube skeleton

Pretty good right, saved a lot on sculpting that one.  :D
Remnants of clothing is good, I always liked the idea of heavily armoured skeletons, rusted plate. But that could just be an easy head swap with a knight really.

Ditto on Otherworld, they are fantastic!

Otherworld is great.  For something less immediately available, Rackham's older Skeletons, Zombies, Scavengers, & Morbid Puppets are really nice.

I always really liked Bob Olley's undead as well.

I have a bunch of the otherworld armoured skeletons. They are great, better than the naked sort I think.

Being a Copplestone fanboy, I'd suggest the Mirliton skellies.

all the ones with slot-bases are Copplestone's:

Also Battlezone has some undead characters by Mark C.

If you're looking for under represented undead monsters, I'd say Ghouls. Otherworlds make three terrific ghouls. (With a bit of bending you can get six relatively different figures.) That said I'd like to have some more nice looking metal ghouls. Then there's the rest of the undead creatures. Sure, there's lots of skeletons, and you can't swing a dead muskrat without hitting a zombie now a days, but how many wights are there. How about Wraiths. Not including the Nazgul, you can get two from Otherworlds, and a few random single figures from different companies.

Then again, it could just be me.

And one last idea, Giant Bats. I'm talking about individual bats that look like they're flying, not parked on a stick (like the old Warhammer Quest Plastic), or based in a flock.

Yeah, I like ghouls. I was thinking Undead Orcs to begin with though  ??? Also like the idea of Giant bats. Really big ones!
