Female Orc Mage & Warrior - painted by Paul Cubbin!

Hola!

Two of my female orcs from the Believable Female Miniatures Project. The entire project is about finding and making female miniatures that aren't overtly sexualised, and just getting on with...whatever they are getting on with. Not spilling out of chainmail bikinis or tripping over high heels.

I've started to make an orc warband of lots of different classes (I do the sketch, Phil Hynes does the putty!) The idea behind these is that they are just "cool", it is seems to be a bad but common pitfall for non human and larger human ladies to be comedic or gross, which isn't very nice.

These have just been painted by Paul Cubbin/cubster , he's done a stunning job as usual, sickeningly good job...

These are really nice, miniatures and paintjobs both.

They remind me, obliquely, of Citadel's old female Runequest trolls; they weren't right, facially, for Runequest, but were terrific figures: mean and intelligent-looking, properly dressed and equipped, and in no way pandering to adolescent fantasies (except perhaps those of a very recherché sort).

That's a great figure too - with the splendid bonus of a realistically sized battleaxe! Would that more figures, male and female, were armed thus!

That's right hobgoblin, these orcs aren't so quite so dumb, barbaric or er, stereotyped! They happen to have their own hobbies, interests and life pursuits
