15mm (1/100) PzKpfw VII Loewe - pics and review
« on: 20 May 2012, 07:02:14 AM »

As some of you may have noticed I have released a free booklet with the rules of the Loewe for Victory Decision as part of the "1 year of Victory Decision celebration".
http://www.adpublishing.de/html/german_manual.html
The model is too good to be just shown, a small review is necessary.

The Löwe kit comes in 4 resin parts (hull, left, right track and turret) and 2 metal casts gun barrels. I knew from Denis (the guy behind Heer46) that the model was designed on a computer and after that printed. The problem with many “pixel-pushed” models is often the visible print lines on the final cast model. Not so with the Löwe kit, either the print was VERY good or the model was prepared by hand to get a smoother result.

Anyway the product you get is as good as any traditional sculpted miniature. It is in fact one of the best cast 15mm tank model I have ever painted. The fitting of the parts was also way above par.

I can only recommend this small gem of a tank. You can get it at the Heer 46 website.

Have to agree, it's a lovely model. It's always annoying that so many (of the more exotic) vehicles can be difficult to impossible to get hold of in 28mm, Die Waffenkammer/JTFM produce excellent vehicle models, (in fact probably the best currently available) but it is a small concern & consequently can't produce all the paper panzer goodness we'd like as quickly as we'd like. My only suggestion is that we ask JTFM to make one, if enough people do, it'll be worth his time to produce one.

Hmm, the initial production costs of 1/56 models are way higher, that might be a reason!  ;) 8)

Exactly my point, having dabbled in casting larger items myself I realise that the costs can be considerable, my only answer being, if enough people want it it'll be commercially worth it.
Perhaps a new thread would be worth starting, in which those of us interested in armoured esoterica pledge to buy, supporting the companies that, because of that cost, might otherwise be unable to produce all this tracked loveliness & getting what we want in the process.

Sounds like one of those dreaded "Kickstarters" to me...  ::)
JTFM has asked via the Yahoogroup what his customers want, so far all "What If" projects were not favoured...

No "dreaded kickstarter" from me, merely expressing a desire to see this stuff in 1/56, if someone produces a decent model they can have my money however they fund it!
