Strange Aeons (re)started it all
« on: 12 June 2012, 04:09:34 AM »
I posted up a minor diatribe on my blog ago the huge avalanche that my getting into Strange Aeons seems to have caused in my life.  Thought I'd share it over here too, because I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in my madness.

I have the same thing with my Cairo project, for some reason 5 or 6 assorted figures on the table are a lot easier to paint than a regiment.  8)

I've been working on some Nazi Gestapo troopers that I will be using for Strange Aeons (as a group of cultists); and I've also included them as cultists in a Death Cult list for VUK.  In addition to that I'll be able to use them as henchmen for my Kriegshunde model for SuperSystem, so I'm actually quite excited about being able to multi-purpose them like that.  I'm hoping to have them finished up over the long weekend and will post them in my painting and modeling thread.

I'm off to order more miniatures on the internet... :|

No worries, jumping from project to project every few weeks (or days!  :o ) is completely normal, I know the feeling of buying a shedload of new miniatures only to realize that the last three piles didn't even get painted up  ;)

Nothing to worry about, it only natural. I have some projects running at the moment like Strange Aeons (lots of unpainted miniatures and on hold at the moment), Secrets of the Third Reich (new obsession about walking tanks and Nazi zombies) and a Death Guard Warhammer 40k army (which has all of my attention at the moment). SA really got me into painting miniatures again and yes, my gold keeps changing into lead...it's an obsession and an addiction.

I don't know if you have to worry about it but the thing you must know is that: YOU ARE NOT ALONE!  ;)

I've finally got a proper workstation set up for painting (and drawing), which I've been trying to arrange in terms of space and furniture for quite some time.  It's really quite a nice feeling being able to leave my works-in-progress somewhere safe, along with the few paints I was using for them.  I'm still trying to work out a good way to store my paints and basing materials close at hand but without being in the way.

I also bought the first two Shocking Tales e-books from the web store yesterday.  They're a really good read and I love the idea of a lost-world style of campaign.  I'll have to chat with the players down at the shop and see if we can run it.  Now where can I get decent looking but cheap dinosaur models to scale...?

As to more games, I found a local player who is going to give me a demo of Dark Age and Hell Dorado today.  I'm really looking forward to that.  As if I need more figures to paint or rules to learn...but still I'm sure it will be a lot of fun!

Are you running a blog about the Death Guard? I'm just starting one myself, and will be working on it VERY slowly...

-----------------

I have piles and boxes and piles of miniatures floating around. I cannot for the life of me get the attention span together to work on anything long enough to get it finished.

I THINK there will be some resolution to that in the coming months, then I'll have enough to keep me busy for quite a while!

No, I don't think that's my blog you're talking about. I do have some 40k but haven't played in quite some time. Although my small chapter of space marines (the Obsidian Fists) will be taking to the battlefield on sunday to try out 6th edition...

Also: how is that, that this hobby is, for lack of a better term, so fulfilling? A year ago I had no idea about miniature gaming, and now I have big ass piles of miniatures waiting to be painted, and when I do paint them, is the perfect anti-stress activity. It's creative, it's fun, it's... youknowwhatI'msayin'... :)

Not yet, I have quite a big amount of models, but I just started painting them (one Plague Marine finished and slowly working on a Rhino).

Oh Lord, Necro. I have a Nurgle army too, long-buried during 5th and coming out for 6th. We should swap mighty tales of the previous Chaos Codex where all the boys were men and all the men were gods. Maybe we'll see some of that again.

Back to OP... so yeah, years of unpainted stuff stilll on my desk as I fully commit to Strange Aeons and another few years of metal to paint.

We're rich!
