It is regretful that we no longer seeù tp have enough respect for the deceased to create such wonders.

Highgate rocks.  Officially.  You are spoilt for choice in London, though.

Nunhead cemetery is just as old, it was my playground when I was a kid.

I found a Napoleonic soldiers grave once but could never find my way back to it again, spooky  ;)
Well I've lead an evil life, so they say, but I'll outrun the Devil on judgement day.

Nice finds.

On the subject of cemeteries there's a massive cemetery near Woking (apparently one of the biggest in Europe) called Brookwood created by the Victorians to deal with the demand for burial spaces. It even had its own railway stations and transported the deceased from the Necropolis Terminus near Waterloo station in London. As morbid as it is I've always thought there's a gothic sceanrio in it somewhere; perhaps a train robbery of a different kind (cue thunder and lightning for effect). Link:

one of the Jago and Litefoot Big Finish Audios is set on the Necropolis Express and at Brookwood... the whole series are worth a listen for Gothic/VSF inspiration...
