meaning you didn't have your book refunded? Or that you didn't actually order anything in last weekend's sale?

Latter.

The pricing for shipping miniatures has always turned me off (along with a lack of product in my areas of interest -  aviation primarily.)

Had I seen this thread before I ordered (moons ago) I would not have considered buying from them.  Needless to say, I will certainly revert to my prior avoidance of buying from them.

Gracias,

Glenn

I wasn't especially bothered, at least I got my money back but judging by traffic on other forums this seems to have been pretty widespread. The whole thing does seem somewhat disingenuous or at best badly planned and executed.

If there is an item listed on their site at a given price and I purchase it, then that would seem to fulfill the criteria for a valid temptation to treat. Now if I am refunded because they have exhausted all stock then I can't complain but I would be bloody annoyed to discover that they still have stock and are not honouring their contract.

So when I went to their webstore today and discovered they have the item I ordered in stock and listed at normal price you can imagine I was not best pleased.....

I shall be writing to Foundry, who have not contacted me, only their e-commerce intermediary who emailed notice of a refund without any accompanying details.

I posed the question on TMP and so far it looks like rejects and refunds were issued randomly: one order went through on the 22nd, but the rest were cancelled. ??? I wouldn't be surprised if someone's order went through on the 23rd/24th, while I'm waiting for a Paypal refund.

In response to my queries as to why Foundry had not provided the goods puchased and as to whether they did still have the item in stock I received this rather obtuse response.

We are very sorry but due to a technical hitch the books were no longer available at the discounted price.
We are very sorry for the inconvenience, you will be receiving an email soon explaining the situation.
Regards
rachel

Hopefully the email will explain why they couldn't honour a valid purchase made in accordance with the terms offered.

Well, I am still trying to straighten out my previous order in which they sent 10 x the WRONG BLISTERS!

I just sent a scan of the contents of the second box of that order to every email I have for Foundry - Matt Fletcher, Sales and "Customer Service" - it will be the third email regarding the order since last week. Still no response. The only email from Foundry being the one telling me that I couldn't have the sale book and another telling me that the extra couple of blisters I ordered with the book had shipped.

What would be really cool would be that they slipped my screwed up blisters in with those, but somehow I don't think that's happened. And I wouldn't mind a response to my emails...

Well, I had a nice response to my last email promising to make things right. (yay!)

Still not sure how that sale was supposed to work. Apparently they only wanted to offer a limited number of the books at a discount. But why not just say that?

Also had an email saying they were getting rid of the outrageous US exchange rate. But it still sounds like they are going to have prices in US dollars which still leaves room for error, IMO. What they should do is just sell in GBP and let the cc and PayPal take care of the exchange at the daily rate. I know I would prefer that thenif the Cdn gains against the pound I am not losing out. As it is, they are going to set the price based upon the US/GBP exchange rate and then I will have to hope that the US/Cdn is still good.

They could also add an "Order History" to their site. I can't figure out how to look up my orders, even one I just made. It doesn't seem to be a feature, which is odd as it is standard on most web stores I've seen.

Has anyone who ordered some books and not heard they won't be getting them, received them yet?
I had 'order sent' email on 21/6, & it usually only takes a couple of days from Foundry (although 90% of my orders do tend to have a mistake!)  :?

Well, my previous order (which was messed up in a big way) was at least a week to ten days before it shipped. They are good about sending that email to say it shipped, so if you haven't had that then it probably hasn't. OTOH, maybe it won't given the kerfuffel.

Original parcel was lost in the post, so new one was sent yesterday - got it today, & they included an extra book by way of compensation!

Company service wise these guys are an abomination and the miniatures simply are good enough to make it worth putting up with at the extortionate price they are if you cant buy them second hand or from a discount outlet.

This is disgusting behaviour/PR and its been going on for years at Foundry. Their not worth it sorry!
