How to make a tree.
« on: 04 March 2013, 06:16:56 PM »
I just saw this guy's blog on how to make a wire tree, thought it a very good and detailed guide: http://sirrob01.wordpress.com/2011/10/10/wargaming-terrain-how-to-make-trees-one-single-trunk/   I use the Woodland Scenics one's myself but think I will use this guide to make some old and twisted Oaks ect for variety.

Essentially the same way I make mine. That last pic with the foliage on though ruins the work somewhat, it looks awful. He needs to start making spreading canopies between the fine branches and/or using larger clump foliage if that's the style he's going for. I would also say that you should always tape the wire, as trying to hide the twists without doing it takes just as long as the taping process and uses more paint/filler/sealant as he says.
So many projects..... so little time.......

Nice! Rather helpful. Not a completely new idea but well executed. Agree with the foliage. It could be more dense.
