I've just watched the truly dreadful movie Konga, in which Michael Gough turns a baby chimpanzee into a giant man-in-a-gorilla-suit by feeding it with cells from mutated carnivorous plants.  Those would do nicely for his greenhouse, except that they are probably more convincing than the props the film-makers used.

Hehe, but I used walnuts for the aliens you know. The Walnusians.  

But I should give it a go with the plants as well. The construction looks exceedingly simple barring the leaves perhaps.
