Doug: I envision some really nice Dwarf SWAT sculpts as well as some other Slummer types. Not a big fan of Dwarves as wizards, but I could see a nice Dwarf SlumShaman with a Earth Elemental or Garbage Elemental. I don't want to put too many ideas out there for folks to snatch up before I get a chance to move forward. Hopefully, I can give you some nice concept work in the next couple months. Hopefully, I'll be able to lure you in to more than a casual interest or at least provide you with some nice models at a later date.

<snip> I understand the cross talk between agencies, I've worked with both the FBI and CIA and neither spoke highly of the other. <snip>

Lord love a duck, so right on!

My personal bad experience was with DIA and embassies (they claim that as their bailiwick) as a DMA Regional Analyst.  Working by e-mail (never returned my calls or answered phone) led to some syntax errors and she was forever in a snit after that and never did accept my apology for the confusion.  Soured me on dealing with them to this day.  Silly?  Yes, but just being honest about human foible in service to country.  In my own defense that was a common problem between the two agencies back in the late 20th century.  Heaven help you if you pointed out a country had a new address for one of their embassies on their national web site - "Well, we have no confirmation on that address, use our location."     ::)  Bureaucrats! I am one and it drives me crazy!

I can see "clan" issues (for lack of a better term - within the setting) causing problems between units/individuals on a common force.  It's not so black and white as labels might suggest.

So I see the Cops/criminal/SWAT/etc. derivation as a way to generalize the species/races/whatever but I will point out that mixing them is far more useful and leads to some great story lines.

Gracias,

Glenn

Glenn: I can appreciate what you are saying on all fronts, the bureaucracy and on the stereotyping. Slummer crews will be composed of any race and just the samples were divided by race. Once I get the point values nailed down, I'll have some sample crews with a little more variety.

A hard-boiled, cigar smoking, trench coat wearing Halfling detective will make an appearance in the fluff alongside U-es-bee and the rest of their crew.

Good stuff going on right now. Made some agreements with some really great sculptors who are willing to work on the U-es-bee piece and other ideas I pitched to them. Can't say who at the moment, but I'm pretty stoked about working with these gentlemen. Sorry for the tease, just too excited to keep it all to myself.

Tobias: You've been with us since the beginning and your feedback has been invaluable. Thanks for all your help and I look forward to more battle reports.

This thread has alot of views. I wonder if they were all people with nothing nice to say or lurkers who are interested just don't want to post. Chime in and let us know what you think. Are you a future Slummer?

Maybe he will do better than Shadowrun or a steampunk version - shudder - does
Maybe. And I would think some diehard Shadowrun fans (is there any other kind?) might want to get the game to run the original as a minis game.

I still say "meh" to the concept and think it's a niche within a niche.

But I'm also still a-okay with cheesecake hacker minis in 28mm o_o

I am not a gamer but I do collect miniatures... so the onslaught of a different range is always welcome.

I can understand the 'niche within a niche' comment but I would suggest that there are all sorts of games that fall into that category. It doesn't mean that the game can't be successful though.

My suggestion would be to consider all of the comments (negative and positive) and evaluate what you can do better. If you believe that you are on the right track and don't want to change your mind, disgard the comments that you don't need. The hardest thing about having a personal project that is close to you, is to take on board what people say about it (it is your baby, after all).

Once the miniatures start turning up, the comments will start to increase.
