Soviet weird WW2 walkers by atom12
« on: 13 December 2012, 12:20:27 AM »
Below is my collection of Soviet weird WW2 walkers for my 28mm army. Most or scratch built by me, With the big Mig 1/35 scale and SOTR spider mech. I did these more than a year ago.

For the scratch built ones based the 4 leg one on the Mig.

At the time also made a 6 leg version with a IS-2 turret. Now looks like some of the dust stuff. I did use at-43 models for the base legs.

I have seen the Mig model for years, but never got it until stated playing with WW2 with my firend.

so with SOTR one came out bought one. Problem I with this model is the resin is thin and breaks on the legs. And on the bottom of the body is a large chuck of resin. Was going to remove it but my band saw was broken for a while. But I think it is better I left it on to add more support.

These are amazing! Great work! Are the bodies of the smaller ones some kind of pet food tin or short pvc pipe?

The 4 legs ones body's are PVC pipe with a cap on them plastruct. Then glued on some plastic to build up the armor. The back ends are all plastic with barrels I picked up some where for the gas tanks.
The turret is from a Hobby Boss 1/48 model. The legs are form the AT-43 therian walker model. I took the armor off and add my own armor out of plastic. Also changed the feet to be plastic pipe. Since was picking them up cheap and getting an container in the process. Was easier then scratch building my own.

The 6 legs ones. Same legs, Body all scratch build. The turret from JTFM.

Great job! Always thought that an IS series turret would look better than the KV2 one on the (otherwise excellent) West Wind offering.
