What minis to buy
« on: 28 March 2008, 12:17:27 PM »
I have received a playtest-version of a WWII skirmish wargame, and as I also at some point want to go into Weird War, I need some troops...

I need a German squad/Gruppe of about 10 members, including the nescessary NCO(s?), and a corresponding squad/section of US infantry or British infantry - preferably from the European theatre after D-day (Normandy/France).

Where should I look, what should I buy?? My knowledge of the military details of WWII is very small, to say the least...
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

Either BAM, as V suggests, or Artizan, or Black Tree. They all do squad packs, and I can speak from experience that the Black Tree Americans are really nice. The pics on the site don't do them justice.

Plus, they always seem to have a sale on. Just don't expect them to get to you quickly.

I also have a German squad from Westwind, with the seperate heads, which is quite nice, although they do sometimes have casting issues with their stuff.

Oh, I'm into 28 mmm for this.

I am just looking at BAM on Brigade's site, they seem nice enough!

What should a typical British section(?) contain?

I'll also recommend BAM and Artizan.

Take a look at the Artizan 'Thrilling Tales' pulp range too, as there are some really nice characters you can use for NCOs, Officers or other Heroes.

I'm a big fan of Paul Hicks at BAM.  Great figures.  1st choice.

Also, don't dismiss the Battle Honors range.  All my Desert War figures are Battle Honors (Australian, DAK and Italian).  Lots of detail and they come in a huge variety of poses.  Best value for your buck.
