Who makes this tank please ?
« on: 12 January 2013, 04:00:02 PM »
Greetings

I cannot trace the manufacturer or supplier of this tankette
 ???

It appears to be a 28mm resin Renault UE gun tractor
French vehicle of the 1930’s

Can anyone tell me who makes this model please ?

Thanks

Beast

PS I only want to acquire them for agricultural purposes

If you search for VBCW on ebay, this seller's stuff comes up a lot.
To my admittedly untrained eye, most of his tanks appear to be 'chop jobs' of various types of turret atttached to various types of chassis, which is fine for the improvised nature of VBCW, but maybe not so good for historical accuracy.

I'm happy to be proved wrong on this however, and will maybe bid for a tank or two myself one day  :D

I have this one coming from the Ebay along with three of his medium tanks.

This tankette indeed fits quite nicely to description of Renault UE (and also Carden Lloyd tankette), haven't yet been able to decide on his medium tanks though.

Are they the ones that PMC used to sell.  He seems to quiet on EBay at the moment.  I did get some of the light tanks in the past which I made into carriers for my BUF.

Different seller on these.

The medium tanks he sells have the Vickers 6 ton influence although the road wheel section in his tanks have less detail (no suspension and whatnots). But they are cheap and fit the bill well enough for me.

I'm with the 'chop shop' view. It looks like he's taken a number of models and swapped their running gear and turrets about. Some of them work better than others. The varied detail may mean he's sourced them from different manufacturers... or, and hopefully not, home cast his own bits from the originals.

Nevertheless... agricultural machinery with built in bird scarers... novel and practical!  ;)

Definately. That is Der Baron's mechanised Thunder Box. The domed sections raise to accommodate a buttock each.
