Two new characters from North Star Africa

Hi Everyone

We've just added two new characters to our North Star Africa! range.

They both served in the Matabele Rebellion 1896. They are Baden-Powell and Selous.

Those guys look great. They will be a fine addition to anybody's Darkest Africa, Colonial, Back of Beyond, or Pulp collection. I especially like the Frederick Selous figure.

That Selous figure would do for his time in German East in the Great War too, judging by this photo...

I agree, Plynkes.  Selous, as I remember from my readings, was active in the Frontiersman in East Africa, and met an untimely demise fighting there in World War One.

There's always a moral conflict when reading about the exploits of these characters. Real, hardy outdoors type of man but not always with a view to the world that i find easy to share. I first heard the name Selous in a book by Peter Matthiessen, Sand Rivers in which he describes a trek through the last wilderness in Africa, The Selous. Very captivating read and i can recommend it to all who are interested in this part of the world. Next time i read the name Selous it concerned The Selous Scouts. But that is another story.

Ever wonder what the beliefs/practices/assumptions of our generations (Boomer, X, Y) will be viewed in a hundred years from now?

I learned, as a historian, you must judge a personage first based on the views of their time/place to understand why they acted as they did.

Very nice figures that (because of the size) I unfortunately will never own.
