Cracking idea and a solidly good result. This has me thinking about using tubes of mastic or buildeers caulk which might be cheaper than glue sticks. Thanks for sharing.  8) :)

Clear silicone sealer is great for water effects!
Saving the last bullet... just in case.

Any links or pics to see the end result you speak of? :-)

You can buy 40 small (about 4" long) hot glue sticks for $1 on sale at local craft stores; the cheapest tube of paintable caulk I've seen is $2.50. For these six fields I used about three or four sticks of hot glue, so it's honestly hard to see how caulk would be cheaper. It would certainly work, though.

You all wanna see what a hot glue gun is capable of head on over to YouTube and check out DMScotty's channel
The DM's Craft. http://www.youtube.com/user/theDMsCraft/videos?view=0  :-)

Some neat stuff on that YouTube channel, thanks Grimm!

See I've never seen glue sticks for that price in the UK, but have seen caulk and mastics cheaper - I imagine location might be a factor on price.

I have seen this pic recently somewhere. Looks good though. Very well done.
