HMSS Meerkat - Tunnel Rats of Venus
« on: 12 June 2013, 01:50:05 AM »
My gaming brother Rico's birthday is coming up, so I thought that I'd just knock together a quick present for his VSF collection. He's is a big fan of battles on Venus, so I put together the equivalent of a tunnelling M113 armoured personnel carrier, the HMSS (Her Majesty's Sub-terranean Ship) Meerkat. It's a GI Joe vehicle, with the addition of a handle and hinge on the back (creating a rear hatch), a top hatch and maxim gun, and an old worn down drill bit to be the tip of the drill. Slap on some paint, add a commander, and "Bob's your uncle", you're good to go.

Nicely done.  :) I have one of those, but haven't brought it to the projects table yet.

Sweet! I'll have to track down one of those for my Underminers company. Thanks for sharing!

Alas, I have four of these beasties started as a 'train'. Got two apart, started thinking how to connect as the center pivot, and the the other two as 'engines', though all drives would be active, pointing opposite directions.

I decided it would have to be something of a monster to carry sufficient supplies and parts, and would have an 'ass' to escape if it put its nose into trouble.

Mine was a lovely idea, yours is a working beast. :'(
