Mindfad's alien project
« on: July 01, 2013, 05:48:42 AM »
Have watched some other aliens project with great interest. Found the AVP alien queen set at a local store for 4 dollars a pop. Had 8/9. Decided to buy them and than surfed ebay until i found the alien and predator kits for reasonable prices with horrorclix zombies as well.

Than found a interesting find at a pawn store. No idea why he had two. Took alot of searching to find out where they were from but there from a limited edition avp chess set.. Had hopes to pick up a few of the other pieces not luck so far.

Then have had some desire to try some minor mold making and casting. Will hopefully be able to try some sculpting some of the weird alien variant that came out as toys when i was younger, bull, gorilla alien etc... Here are my first two casts of horrorclix aliens using instant mold and green stuff. I cut a alien into legs, arms, torso and head. made molds of each. My first attempts at some complicated things using this stuff. The heads come out well but the arms Im struggling with.

Thinking of ordering Defiance marines, havent decided yet. any thoughts ?

Have not figured out a game, as I just ordered some predatore predators as well. Got a decent amount sunk in, kinda hope to have some functionality at the end if at all possible.

That's a nice start there!

Defiance Marines aren't a bad pick, although opinions differ a lot. They can fairly easily be combined with Hasslefree pulse rifles if you want a more Colonial Marines look:

Mad Robot makes good conversion sets for colonial marines: http://madrobotminiatures.com/zencart/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=9_15&products_id=35
finding suitable legs for them not really a problem considering a whole lot of internet  stores selling conversion parts.

How do you put images in the thread, i post them in the brackets and it just never shows up.

Also just got my order from Predastore, Order 5 preds got six and the sixth one isnt listed on the website. Regardless sweet, they are amazing detailed but a little smaller than I thought but no matter.

Been looking up how to glue the pieces it seem superglue is the best bet after rinsing them? I have no idea how to paint predator skin, anyone have any ideas? Simple green will remove paint on resin figures without harming them? I want to paint the predastore figures but I know my paint job wont do them justice and as i get better I will definitely want to come back to them.

When composing a message you see a bunch icons above the text window.
the second icon on the second row is the one to enter photos (depicting a  painting)
just click it and put your photo-link between the 2 codes (IMG and /IMG, each between brackets) that where inserted.

Mind you, you have to put the html code to the photo, not just the address as that doesn't seem to work.
check out http://www.flickr.com/help/photos/#2265887 and look for "Where is the HTML code and photo file link?"

Anywho, I've looked up the correct links for your photos and inserted them in this reply.
(If you hit Insert Quote for this message you can see the code  :))
