Plastic 1/72nd scale Gladiators?
« on: 21 July 2013, 02:25:42 PM »
All,
I notice in all the discussion about figures, that no one has mentioned the 1/72nd sets from Pegasus and Italieri that mirror the 54mm sets.  Has anyone tried them?  I wonder if they are just too fiddly to assemble to be worthwhile.

I purchased the Pegasus 1/72 gladiators last year. While they are really nice once assembled and painted, they can be rather frustrating to put together. I had to redrill the arm holes and make them deeper, not to mention trying to figure out the proper order of attaching the ams (if you glued in the right arm before the left, you could not get a proper grip on the figure to attach to left; making the right arm pop out). My great big sausage fingers cartainly did not help the process either!  ;)

All in all IMHO, once you get over the initial stages of assembly -they do look very nice.
Now I just have to find a good rule set!

Nick you planning on a hidden "ludus in a book" for some kids?  lol  I can see a clever text-book turned ludus...

"Elbows",
I am at a loss to respond to that. :)
I decided to have another go at the 54mm guys, I'll probably pick up the Pegasus sets this week.

I thought maybe you were going to go for a super-small scale hidden game box or something (like the ludus-in-a-box threads here).  I was thinking of a hollowed out textbook with a miniature arena in it!  lol

Damn you, now I'm actually thinking about it!  I really have a very good baking pan "arena" already however.

:D  I just pictured a 12 year old sitting in school, scowling at his textbook arena, then giving a thumbs down (or to the throat) in the middle of class... lol

I made a Gladiator battle Group from all the available 1/72nd figs that I´d painted years ago.

There´s a couple of Close ups HERE, but the paintjob from back then is ....... :?
I knew the truck didn´t want to hit me...it had dodge written on the front
