I would have thought that they may have been a little too omnipotent for game balance.

Doesn't mean they can't have in game stats.

All stats could be "Special" and the special rules of Instant madness for anyone that draws line of sight to the model and instant death of you're ever in base contact? ;)

Possibly. I blame sleep deprivation and solicitors. Still.. insanity and death ensues anyway, surely? ;)
