Akos
« on: 24 September 2013, 03:03:25 PM »
Finally finished this piece, just in time for a painting competition.
Bought this model straight away from Hasslefree when it was released. Loved the sculpt! The resin wasn't cheap but daaaaaaaaamn the quality is out of this world. Really perfect. For the painting I kept it mainly straight forwards and added some extra touches with the tribals. For the base I wanted a cool "Massive Voodoo type base". So big, 3D and loads of details on it. I took a plinth, took off the front right corner and raised the back left corner to make it more 3D and to add more movement to the mini. After doing the base with pigments I added all kinds of tufts, paper ferns, Busch models plastic flowers and a Bonsai branch. Finally some turf and dried roots for finishing touches.
Very pleased with this one and as usual Kev did a perfect job on the sculpt.

The mini in his natural surroundings is an OUTSTANDING creation...BEAUTIFUL brushwork & a MAGNIFICENT base. WONDERFULLY WELL DONE!

Great work! Lovely colour choices there and that's one of the better grassed bases I've seen. The tattos are all handpainted, I presume?

Cheers all!

Jup. I've used a Raphael 8404 #1 brush (best brush you can get for detail work) with P3 Coal Black. Coal Black is just fantastic for tattoos, the perfect color for that soft offblack color.
