Berlin - seven years war attractions
« on: October 26, 2013, 04:29:13 AM »
Off to Berlin this morning for a few days over half term.

Anyone know of any 7YW sites/museums, etc to visit whilst there?

Thanks

Steve

Little in the way of actual, dedicated museums that I know of. Of course, there's Sanssouci, Frederick the Great's palace in Potsdam, and the Oranienburg palace, both in easy reach with public transport. The Deutsches Historisches Museum, which is located in the Zeughaus on Unter den Linden, has a decent section on that era, and may still show the exhibition on Leipzig (which is a bit later, obviously, but I thought I'd suggest it). In a twist of irony, the F2 army museum is actually in Bavaria.

Except for the palaces, Berlin is better served for WW2 and Cold War. I was there last weekend and visited the Soviet Memorial in Treptower Park and the refurbished German-Russian Museum in Karlshorst, both rather interesting.
