Double action revolver and a speedloader for the reload. Not sure they had the latter in the old west. It's still damn fast either way.

I saw some of these guys on Sky TV where they were comparing some legends of the old west to modern shootists.
The most amazing thing I saw was a guy shoot an ASPIRIN out of the air. Now that's shooting!!!!
