Puppetswar Troopers unit.
« on: December 24, 2013, 03:57:31 PM »
Although i regularly state that i have 'only' two projects imust confess that there's a third always lurking in the background. It's a near future scenerio of a team of military contractors/mercenaries that a send of on missions that nobodyelse wants or dares to do. Think of Predator with Arnie/Aliens and other assorted adventures.
Because of a shortage in funds i am not persueing this 'third project' with the energy as my other two projects. However, i am always on the lookout for suitable miniatures for an agreeable price.
This day my attention was directed towards Puppetswar website and more precisely the Troopers unit. Very nice. And they might be the thing i have been looking for. So, my dear and very knwoledgeable fellow LAF'rs, what are you experiences with siad company and possible with said item. Any ideas/advice or other knowledge is much appreciated. Cheers.

Based on the feedback from the second thread I ordered a set as well.  Here's my feedback:

The order showed up pretty quick (shipping from Poland to the US in about 10 days).  The figures are cast from 3D prints.  While the print quality is superior from anything you could get from a place like Shapeways, there are still some print lines here and there that puppet wars didn't clean up such as curvy parts like the helmets.  Almost all of the lower bodies had bubbles at the ends of the toes, not detrimental but annoying.  Six of the ten heads had damage to the back where it looks like they had been cut from the pour lug too closely.  These were a huge issue as the back of the helmets was too damaged to salvage.

I immediately sent an email to Puppet Wars.  They responded a week later saying they'd make it right.  Approximately two weeks after that I received another package with a second copy of the trooper parts.  Unfortunately, the new parts had a lot of the same flaws as the first.  In the end I was able to make 10 good sets of parts.  I've got five assembled and painted and the final product looks pretty good.

It all turned out OK in the end but it was a hassle to have to complain.  Being resin, the figures are also a little on the expensive side.  My advice on ordering from Puppet Wars is that if you want any of their items on a lark, I'd pass.  On the other hand if something really catches your eye and you just have to have it, go for it but be willing to put up with the hassle.

Okay. That is clear...somewhat. How long ago was that? Perhaps they have improved the production process? I think i will send them a message and just ask.

I got some about a month or so ago. My experience is identical to that of RWWIN. (top review that man)
I'd also add that they're on the smaller side of heroic 28mm, whatever that means these days.
They look slight next to GW and Copplestone, but good next to infinity etc.
I bought them with the intention of swapping out the heads for the Mad Robot colonial heads, but the heads are way too big, as will be most of the other after market bits out there.
Pity.

Gents, all your input is greatly appreciated. It seems that PW have a problem with the quality of their product. That's very unfortunate as i sort welcomed the idea of at last finding a suitable bunch of miniatures to do some near future adverturing and bug hunting. Well, it seems the search continues.

Perhaps Warzone Resurrection's new Capitol light infantry may suit you?
