Unfortunately Tre's last kickstarter update makes it sound like he's not doing so well

Quote
hello Everyone,

Again I must apologize for the lapse in updates. I am still waiting for the remainder of the product to be delivered so that I can resume shipping as normal. The latest delay is at least partly my own fault as I missed adding one item ( the count for the Aenglish Shields sprue ) into the final count email to Ed on November 4th. As per Ed's last update to me on the 10th of December they were trying to finish counting and sorting the Hordesmen torsos before shipping out that box, which would allow more fulfillment to take place.

I understand that it is very confusing to follow which figures are the hold up and which are not. It is very difficult for me to keep up with myself. The reason being is that we never get the full count ordered in any one shipment. So we tend to run out of items in staggered intervals.

Ed does have the final count of items needed and has informed me that they are working on finishing the production, sorting, and counting.

To give some perspective as to the progress of fulfillment we have shipped 579 rewards packages out of the 759 total pledges. We are within sight of the end but it is still down to the delivery of the final quantities of items needed to finish fulfillment and my ability to pay for the next increase in postage cost of the remainder of packages yet to ship.

I understand that many of you are VERY angry and let down. I won't deny responsibility, but I am afraid that all I can do is apologize and try to finish fulfilling on my promises as I am able to do so. Suffice it to say that my misery is manifold. This kickstarter has ruined my life, my finances, and my business. It has all but totally killed my will to produce new art. It has strained my relationships with my family and friends and business colleagues. It only appeared to be profitable and never was. I have spent many thousands of dollars from what little profits my regular business has been able to eek out over the last 12 months, trying to settle dilemmas that relate to the fulfillment and production issues of this project.

This project was supposed to be the great new beginning for my business and instead it has been a very slow and painful death. You have my humblest apologies for the delays, and frustrations. In the next 4 days I expect to be able to give one final update as to the progress of production and the projected time of delivery for final fulfillment.

  For now,

   tre'

I sure hope by "Death" he doesn't mean the shuttering of RBG.  :'(

It's a story we've seen quite often, isn't it? It seems a common occurrence that these projects become victims of their own success.

It's a danger when a single artist is trying to run the business end of things as well. Things just get on top of you sometimes.

Kickstarters certainly are going through growing pains, and it's the runaway successes that really seem to crash and burn. I have no idea how Reaper managed to deal with their KS. Stretch goals and freebies up the $$$ but that stuff really seems to cut into profit in the end.

One KS that seems to have done really well was the NeoLucida, an art device. When they launched it, they straight up limited the pledges, once they were taken, they were done. They had budgeted for a certain size production run and stuck with it. Now they can be had on Amazon, not long after the KS funded.

Companies really need to set a goal and stick to it, forget stretches, freebies, etc. get the funds, make the product, keep happy customers.

Red Box makes sweet figures, but I wasn't the only person wondering why he was going with KS.
