Cavalier?
« on: February 21, 2014, 02:17:43 PM »
Anyone going to Cavalier in Tonbridge on Sunday?

I haven't been for a few years. It's not one of the bigger shows, but it's only 25 minutes from me, and I do need some paints and a couple more boxes of plastic figures, which I'm hoping I'll be able to pick up there.
I say hoping, because the Tunbridge Wells Wargames Society website isn't exactly brimming over with info...
There is, for instance, no list of demo games, nor participating traders: not that I can see anyway...
But I think I'll give it a try.

I intend going, circumstances permitting...

Wont be there until about noon, though.
See ya then, if you are still around at that time, that is.
Pint?

after visiting this show for a couple of years, we won't be there this year because Eurotunnel has multiplied their prices for this sunday to the extreme.

Dear Boys,
I am about 1hour 15mins by car and have an outside chance of making the show.
I would love to meet fellow hobbyists.
How will we recognise each other , maybe cocktail time at the bar for some
light relief or a light lunch at a local bistro . As Panto season is truly over
for another year it would be nice to relax with like minded people.
We all could wear a flower in our pin hole for identification .

Regards
Cecil

Karl was wearing his badge  ;)

Truthfully, it's not the biggest of shows... 90 minutes was the most I could manage - and that included going right round several times as well as shopping, plus stopping to chat to Ged, Karl, and a couple of other old faces (Eric the Shed was arriving just as I was leaving... )
Still, I managed to get some of the GW paint and various plastic figure sets I wanted.
Many of the display games weren't much to write home about I'm afraid - although the Maidstone WW1 Belgium game on the stage was mighty impressive, and I liked SELWG's little Valhalla table... Quality terrain on both those. Most of the rest - meh.
But overall - considering it's not too far from me and only cost 4 quid to get in - thanks are due to the TWWS for going to the effort to lay it on...

Id echo Richard's points about the level of quality of games - but I do understand that to cart around a lot of stuff might not be everybody's cup of tea.

I did feel for one kid (with his dad) when he approached the M&T game in the small room and asked if it was a participation game...he was told it was a demonstration only. Nobody was playing and it could have been a great opportunity to inspire..

Very much looking forward to Salute
