Or we could just change our usernames to the branding (or whatever) on our favourite t-shirt ....

I tried that once. After my house was burnt down twice by angry mobs I realised that changing my name to S.Peedo wasn't such a great idea.

That might prove difficult as my favourite one one contains no text and the name for followup is already taken   ::):

You will have trouble getting to know us if you dodn't introduce your self at these things, we don't  bite

Well, that wasn't the problem so much as how to follow it up. But gimme a year and, possibly, a couple cups of coffee. :)

Vermis: I don't think I met you* but would have liked to say hello (you've given me great sculpting advice before).

*I am terrible with names and faces

I would've welcomed it, and I'm terrible with names meself. :) Can't remember if I heard 'Silent Invader' being called out...?

Right then, Salute positives! In no real order...

That Dropzone starship near the entrance, with all the little dropships lined up in it. Excellent 'welcome' to the show.
Akky's not-Dune table, with it's light-show. Great to see it in person. I hear none of the Frothers tables won an award this year, which was a crime.
Jimbibbly's award-winning table and generally brilliant terrain, though... Really neat, expertly-made stuff. Gotta point some Bushido-playing guys at it. (Also for when I get off me bum and get something done for Ronin.)
Met some LAFers! ;) I'll know quite a few faces for next time. Certainly won't forget 6milPhil in a hurry. :)
The Keren table was great. Watched it for a short while but wish I'd stayed longer. Talked to one of the guys (can't remember who, sorry) for a short while, asking about the IABSM rules, so ta for that. (It convinced me to stick to Battlegroup, which I also picked up on the day for a show discount, but that's beside the point. ;) )
Looking at the Keren table, I saw someone standing beside me out of the corner of my eye. He looks familiar... Holy moley it's Michael Perry!
Speaking of Perrys, good to see the 3-ups on display there. The HYW stuff is making me reconsider my 15mm ASoIaF plans. Possibly.
Enjoyed looking at the Heresy displays to see the new resin cast of the dragon, the new terror maggot, and the WIP 3-up for the future plastic skellies. Very nice altogether. I'm gonna have to think of what I can use a bunch of skeletons for, when that kickstarter swings round.

And anything else once I sort it out from the blur in my head.

And then there's the trips round the Cartoon Museum, the National Portrait Gallery, the London Zoo, and especially the British Museum, but that might be pushing it topic- and interest-wise. Suffice to say I'm wondering what the market's like for ancient Assyrian miniatures.

Warlords do a decent enough job and tbh I am not going to cross the show of my wargames calender, the show lighting was poor which I expect as already stated is down to Excel and the dimmer switch setting, I am already planning next years visit, as for the rest of this years show I am at a bit of a quandary hearing Colours is not on this year, I wasn't planning on a trip to Partizan or Derby but may well have to now!

Aren't we all incredibly spoilt. This is a show where people from all over the world flock together to come and see (sometimes even talk to) the people who sell (let's face it) stuff we hardly need but is ever so shiny. Salute (I think I've travelled from Belgium my 25th time now) is THE place where you can see everybody and everything (so sorry that some are staying away), where i meet people whom I don't get to see for another year (even Belgians) and where I enjoy going to. Were there points to ponder, I bloody hope so or else the Warlords would be perfect. Was I tired , I'm tired after every show. Is part of the enjoyment gone? Maybe, but it all depends on what you make of it. If playing is your thing then go to smaller shows although the quality of the games at Salute is usually very high. I also visit several other UK shows (Cavalier, Bovington, Selwg) They are all different with their own character and I enjoy them all the same. Each time I can buy something (sometimes a lot) and talk about my hobby with traders or punters alike. I for one like to commend the Warlords for giving us a show each year for about 30 odd years now.

Ah, Johan my friend, you must know the English well enough by now, to know that complaining is one of our favourite national pasttimes, along with queueing, cricket, and discussing the weather  lol

I agree, the Warlords should be commended for putting on a great show. It was undeniably darker in the hall than previous years, but that obviously wasn't their fault. But on the whole, I think it was well organised. I've complained about the queue in previous years - this year, I have to say, I turned up at 10.20 with my advance ticket, joined the back of the advance ticket queue - which was already filing in - and I was in the show within 5 minutes  :)

It was good to see you anyway. Thank you for the figure, and for the fascinating story about the Belgian Armoured Car squadron's astonishing journey home, trans-Siberia, trans-Pacific, and via San Francisco and New York. Truly an amazing story which should be turned into a movie. Or a wargame  :)

A chappie from Warlords said on PMT that he noticed that the lights were dimmed noticably after the games and trade had all set up and that the lighting issue would be on the agenda for the post Salute meeting with the Excel people.

So hopefully it will be back to "normal" next year.

I always turn up about 30 minutes after opening with my ticket and never have to queue a second. I also always thoroughly enjoy the show!
Maybe it's just my youthful eyes but I didn't consider the lighting an issue...
