Cultist kitbash - opinions please
« on: 05 December 2016, 08:45:05 AM »
A while back I was asking on the Fantasy board if anyone could recommend some nice missile armed cultist figures, and while all the replies I got were helpful, there wasn't anything I felt really had the right look for what I was after.

So I have had a go at making my own.

Perry WOTR bodies with GW Dark Elf heads and arms...

The idea is they are neophyte cultists, used as skirmishers.

I think I am happy with them, but I'd be interested in knowing what others think before I slap paint on them.

Cheers

I think they look good but a paint job will bring them to life for sure.

Cheers.  :)

I have never really combined such different kits before so I wasn't quite sure if the arms were a good match  - they are typically GW and slightly oversized for the Perry bodies, but with a  bit of cutting and green stuff I think I can just about get away with it. It helps that they are elf bits and slightly less chunky than human arms.

They look great. Just goes to show how versatile these new fangled plastic kits are :)

Great idea...hey, that means being involved in multiple periods is an actual advantage...?  lol

Myself, I avoid the plastic, glue-together figures like the plague. Not for aesthetic reasons, but simply because the only things I have successfully super glued together are my fingers...!  lol lol Me and super glue are old, mortal foes...

Thanks for the encouragement fellas.

Mike - you don't need superglue for plastic... just sayin'....

Have knocked up a couple more of these and will hopefully get to colour them in over the next week or two.  :)

It looks good, although to my eye the head is perhaps a little big?

Yes he looks good.

Probably you already knew it, but the frostgrave cultists box have a lot of heads in that style and also 4 crossbows, so that could be another option for adding variety if you are making a load of them.

I've used these same GW Dark Elf heads with my Frostgrave cultists to represent better armed cultists than the rest of the army who have hooded cultist heads.
