Looking for 1890's Cree First Nation miniatures.
« on: 12 June 2014, 05:46:01 PM »
Hello all,

I am making a U Company Mounties list for IHMN and I am looking Canadian First Nations Cree warriors from the late 1800's or something close to them. I don't do a lot of Cowboy gaming and most of what I can find for First Nations is plains nations. I have no idea where to look and the list at the of this forum is mostly cowboys and plains tribes.

Cheers,

Irish

What do the Cree look like?

I've just googled images of Cree Native Americans and most of the pics that have come up show them looking like the ordinary Plains Indians?

Fair enough, they are a plains and forest tribe, here is a picture from that time frame.

My biggest issue is the weapons and dress on most of the figures I can find, it is circa the middle and early 1800's and a lot of it is very campy. I am looking for men dressed as scouts and not so much in full war gear armed with weapons more in line with the 1890's, winchesters and the like rather then muskets.

That Cree in the buffalo headress does look like a Comanche.

If memory serves me correctly several of the Foundry Plains Indians are armed with Winchesters, but you would have to buy them by the pack of six or eight figures, same with the Conquest ones.
Have a look at Dixon Miniatures as they sell their plains indians individually, I know some have Springfield rifles, not sure if any have Winchesters.
