« on: 13 July 2014, 04:22:29 PM »
hey guys,
does anyone have seen this nice looking reference from Bicorne Miniatures (or Connoisseur).:

http://www.bicorne.net/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=292_102_154_159&products_id=11751

and that one :

they look interesting but i have some doubt about their scale.

Are they mixable with Foundry, Northstars, etc.....

thank you for your interest in this quest   ???

I don't have them but if they are the old Connoisseur sculpts then I THINK that they will be quite small, true 25mm, sculpts and probably far from compatible with more modern figures. I also think some of the sculpts are quite poor. My suggestion, if no one here can oblige, would be to google for images of what others have done with the set. I seem to recall seeing a review that described the figures as mis-begotten lumps.

More than willing to be corrected if I'm wrong on this one  :)

The Bicorne Sudan range contains without a doubt the worst figures I have ever had the misfortune to buy. Avoid.

I told you so. You damned fools.

I've got some of them..mainly Abbyssinians and Italians..i think they mix well with Foundry, Old Glory, Perry ecc...
i also think that they deserve some attention and are a good source for colonial types...plenty of subjects, also some badly needed and rare ones like spare men, artillery crews, wounded, deads ecc...Above all they are sold singly and not, as the majority of other manufactures, in costly packs wich, inevitably, contain less needed figures...so you can also, for the sake of curiosity, buy many different types to have a taste of everything...
in my experience i mixed very well their generic Abbyssinian warriors with my own Italwars minis, Empress, Askari and Castaway..Vs Italwars and Strategia e Tattica Italians and with some conversions from Foundry types...they also fought Vs my Essex, OG, Britannia Dervishes and nobody made a formal protest...
so.i suggest to look at them..

i must add that Bicorne and Conoisseur also if sold by same firm.are 2 different lines..Conoisseur are slender and more vintage types...but i find, also in that case, no problems in fielding them close to other manufactures....also like their style

I agree w/ Italwars about mixing the different types,I have Italian by castaway,Strattegia, ralpartha conversions ,rafm conversions, garrison conversions(all before figures were available).I love castaway and Stratteggia a lot,i do not have Askari Italians but have their fine figures in germans and such. Now for Bicorne, yes they have variety,so I orderd askaris and command figures.........I was severely disappointed in the lack of any definition,it was no joy to paint these figures . Never again.

thank you all for your help.
i know Connoisseur since the early 80's but has it was said, they are old fashion figurines.    :'(

It seem that the Bicorne are more on the actual standard.

cheers

Hello Jurgen
on the opposite, as i'm probably not a fine tongue, i like Bicorne..would you like  to swap your surplus Bicorne (or others)  figures with my Italwars/Strategia ones?  :)

I appreciate your offer ,but I did paint them all up,once I commit to a figure I finish them, they look fine painted ,it was just hard to paint them..I should appreciate the fact that they made figures. I am all better now.

Ive got the first set of Connoisseur market trader types and they are slender but then not everyone of every race is the same size so I use them and once painted and about 3-4 feet from the table with my eyesight they all look fine to me!
Irregular do a nice set of Eastern civilians in their specialist range which we have used from the Crusades to Somalia
