Not that I would know...
« on: July 16, 2014, 03:00:53 AM »
Trying to explain the technique some people use, (not me, hence my difficulty,) of color, shadow, and highlight.   o_o

This was to a non-painter, non-wargamer, non-miniatures person.  After my simplistic effort her question came up, "How would you, for example, paint red hair?"  [no Narcissism there, of course not...]  ::)

Saying that everybody in my armies had monotone brown hair did not suffice...  hmmph, simple generalizations never does with affiliates...

I said I would have to think about it.  (Stall, evade!)

I took a look at the paints Reaper has for red hair, is that the best example?

I can't post a picture (her agency doesn't let it's affiliates have their pictures in our global address list so I didn't even consider that) but it is more of an auburn color.  If you have an example for that darker red it probably wouldn't hurt...

Asking on a "foreign" website would freak a certain somebody out so no links to LAF or other identifiably such websites, please.   lol   ::)

Gracias,

Glenn

With great loving care and tenderness, the utmost attention to detail, with rapid responses to her 'constructive' criticism.

all whilst cringing,  waiting for the knout...

Auburn red would be a dark brown undercolour (Vallejo charred brown), a reddish brown (Beastly Brown) highlight and a touch of either red brown or even orange to finish it.
