Damon Runyon language
« on: 16 July 2014, 06:09:51 PM »
Okay, I admit it.  I'm sitting here painting up Bob Murch's Dimestore Thugs.  I just can't help taking to myself in Runyonese.  I am saying how these guys would visit a guy and explain to him, " Youse has welched on "Big Jooli", which has caused him great consternation and dismay.  We will to explain to youse real serious like how we will start to break body parts for each day the payment is late.
Seriously, am I the only one who does that?

I usually have "Guys and Dolls" on in the background when I paint pulp figures.

Also, don't forget to abuse alliteration when describing action and settings...

Dad has his Pulp Alley channel playing on You Tube most of the time. It's just a big collection of old serials posted by other people. I think it's where he gets most of his ideas from.  lol lol

I did have a "Pulp" music mix to get me in the mood. 20s-30s jazz, film title music and a lot of stuff from the original of "The Mummy". Unfortunately my music streaming system has died on me and I can't play it now. :(
