The British Queen
« on: 15 August 2014, 05:38:01 PM »
Greetings everyone,
Not the real British Queen, but the British Queen Havana cigars popular in the U.S. in the 1870s. So popular that they made hand painted outdoor advertising on the sides of buildings. This of course is not hand painted , but made to look like it was. The artwork was computer generated, run under water for the faded look and then glued to cardboard. The backround of the ad is a dull yellow, so the surrounding cardboard would also have to be yellow and blended together.
The cardboard was then sliced to simulate wooden slats. The paper was then sanded to give it that worn out look. Here are a few shots.

Very good aging on the building.
What period are you gaming I would have thought a building that tatty would be 30 or 40 years old.

Thank you very much for the comments...If I had to date this building it would probably be Spanish American War era

Spectacular!  I can't imagine how long it took to make this.

This is another reminder that I lack imagination.
