OK, so I'm committing neatness about the premises this afternoon...
When I stumbled across a long forgotten box of 1/48 plastic models, airplanes, vehicles & flight crew...
TWO sections of Spitfires, MKs V through IX, a Mustang Ia,
& an F/A 18 Hornet.
Plus in 1/72 a MIG 29, an Albatross D-Va & & Fokker D-VII.
Assorted 1/48 airfield equipment,
LOTS of RAF types in plastic & resin, some USAAF crew ditto, a buncha Russian aviators & more'n a few Luftwaffe lads, a DAK Kübel, a Kettenkraftrad w/2 trailers & a GAZ 67B.
Some of these I
DID recognize, most I couldn't recall buying, others doubtless were gifts from my buddy Bob, sadly no longer with us. The plethora of duplicates was a pleasant surprise.
Yet virtually all of them
completely useless for Proper Pulp.
I promptly raided every single solitary kit & now have a plethora of drums, barrels, cans, crates, chairs, tables, tools, ladders & steps suitable for the 28mm Pulp World!!
The "Airfield Equipment", absent the RAF ones who join their resin brethern, face a future as beaching gear, airship docking tackle & general machinery.
Both Mig & Hornet will be cannibalized, rendered into weapons & parts, useful for the more fantastical portions of Pulp.
BUT...
As tickled as I am with the lil' goodies & minor projects that are so long ago paid for as to be absolutely
FREE...
The
S C O R E is this beauty!!
A singularly useful type, with lots manufactured, a long service history &
MANY different operators both during & after the Great War, the 1½ Strutter is an ideal Pulp 'plane: 2 seater, fixed forward & flexible rear guns, bombs, long range with a useful payload & a wide distribution.
I
LIKE this kit!! Many options means extra bits including an upper mainplane, a propeller, 3 Lewis guns & a Vickers!! If she was on floats that'd be perfect!
Now this is Roden's version where all the big bits are all CLEAR plastic...
Anybody ever tackled one of them? Any tips to share?
Not planning an IPMS prizewinner (
As IF!!) just a sturdy gaming piece so many of the lil' bits & brass will be consigned to the spares box.
Valerik
did I mention there was a Roden 1/72 1½ Strutter INSIDE the ¼ scale box?EDIT: repair imperfect grammar
