I need some dwarves and trolls
« on: 29 December 2014, 01:28:28 AM »
I need some Norse trolls and dwarves. Low fantasy feel, the RPG campaign I am helping with is very 13th warrior/ classic Norse mythos.

Any pictures, links or leads would be helpful. The miniatures are most set to 28 heric/30mm scale.

For the dwarves I'd go with bloody day miniatures from Sgt. Major Miniatures
http://www.sgmm.biz/Dwarves_c_66.html

They're on my list!

Vendel dwarves would probably suit. Can't remeber where you get them from now though.

That would be SGMM actually. :)

I'd put forward Viking Forge http://www.thevikingforge.net/ again. Got a big load of them for Christmas, cheap and a number of nice little sculpts.

Oh, and don't forget Ironwind/Ral Partha Europe for the Bob Olley trolls and ogres:

Norse looking dwarves:

Lead Adventure dwarves

For Trolls, I'd recommend
Nick Lunds Trolls of the Fantasy Lords range, but they might be hard to get.

GS beat me too it but I would also suggest LAM dwarfs...excellent sculpts.  Of course the classic citadel Norse dwarfs are also stellar and if you only need a few wouldn't break the bank to acquire.

Cheers,

Gamezone Miniatures dwarfs have a nice Norse vibe, especially the Guard Hammer

For the trolls, gotta agree with the RalPartha recommendation. There's a cracking new Norwegian style troll upcoming, but it is part of a kickstarter so Odin only knows when it will be available.  lol

Hasslefree dwarves have a realistic-ish medieval saxon style rather than the usual pimped-out high-fantasy thing:

History viewed from the inside is always a dark, digestive mess, far different from the easily recognizable cow viewed from afar by historians.

Crusader minis have a small fantasy collection. Ragnar Redbeard is the bloke u might like as a viking dwarf type via http://www.crusaderminiatures.com/prod.php?prod=62&cat=3&sub=6&page=1
