New Blog
« on: 09 February 2015, 01:58:46 AM »
Hello All!

I've been lurking for years but finally signed up.

Also, I guess I am REALLY getting with the times because I started a blog too.

http://paintingtheleadpile.blogspot.com/

I'm posting it here because lately I have been painting troops for the French & Indian war, but eventually I will post a little bit of everything.

Cheers!

Nice start to the blog! I love the period you've chosen -- and the rules, of course!  lol

I am going to have to try to steal your idea of the leaves for the bases. All the tea I see around here comes in little tissue bags. Where or how do you get the leaves that you're using on the bases...?

I like the look of your figures.
Like your bases.
So you like Song of Drums, too.
Played my first game this weekend.
Loved it.
Will try to post a battle report,
when I can get the damn photos loaded. :-[

I just use a Photobucket account to upload my photos. I've found it the easiest option. Once the photos are uploaded, you click on the "Direct Link" option and paste it into the thread.

Glad you enjoyed the game...! Can't wait to see the photos and read the report...

Haha... I had the same issue.
The whole reason for the blog was to send the photos without having to e-mail my gaming group!
Figured I might as well share it though in case anyone else was interested in taking a look.

The tea I use is a combination - the smaller more finely chopped leaves are from Lipton Tea bags and the larger more course ones are actually from Starbucks.

Their black tea (I think it's called "Awake") is great for basing! I use it in the bags, then rinse it and let it air dry. Once it's dry I just cut open the bags and pour it out into a tupperware.

I've got several months worth of used tea saved up for my Indians, Rangers, and Coureurs de bois.

Beautiful! That is the info I was hoping for! As a school teacher, I have all kinds of Starbucks gift cards...Black Tea it is!  ;D

If you go to a bulk retailer/wholesaler, you can probably get tea leaves (or herbs) of various types. I have used Mixed herbs for forest undergrowth, marvellous fragrance every time you take them out of storage. :)

I recently bought some more from Perry, but the ones I've painted so far were all ordered from Warlord.

The woman and children from the SOBH game are from the Romans vs Celts range, and the farmers/settlers in the SODT game are from the civilians pack in the Conquest FIW range.
