Latest blog post is the first part of a two-part build. This is the outline of the basic construction of a Roman-pattern timber watchtower. It is (I guess) usable from the Imperial Roman period to the end of the Dark Ages. The second post will cover additional detailing on the build.

Here's the post (with the usual how-to): http://mitchwargaming.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/all-along-watchtower-part-1-sub-roman.html

And a piccie to whet your appetite:

Enjoy!

Nice work and nice set of plans  :) :)

I believe the Prof was looking for a Roman wagon recently.

Thanks all!

The rest of the build is making progress, along with the long-stalled Saxon Great Hall. I should have some finished properties soon!

Fastolfrus, I'm over near sunny Malton...

Part 2 of the build, with the exterior completed, is on my blog now.

Cheers Dave!

It would work well with any of the various Dark Age skirmish games, I think. I've used things like it in 500-point WAB games (raid / recon scenarios), and I think it would make things a bit interesting. I mean, the whole idea is you can't sneak up on it!

I'm waiting for the Too Fat Lardies skirmish rules to come out, and I expect to make use of it then too.

Mitch

You'll be glad to know that one of the raid scenarios features just such a tower, so you'll be ready to go when the rules arrive.
