Revelution will be... Now with some Elysians... March 23
« on: 16 March 2015, 03:44:14 PM »
... not televised but documented in this thread.

Yes, I did it again. First, making myself to swore not to start any new projects this year but to try to at least continue and even hopefully finish (to a certain point) one project, not too much to ask, right? Oh well, as it happened, my FLGS got the new Eisenkern Kellerkopf APC and I just went and bought it. Before that I had already picked up a 1/48 scale Bandai's AT-ST from eBay. So one thing led to another and I bought more Eisenkern stormtroopers (I had some left from earlier times...).

Well then came the idea to use the Eisenkern troopers as the good guys, sent by the Supreme Council of Intergalactic Core Worlds to a more distant, yet somehow important system/planet that is currently facing a revolution/civil war to bring the warring factions to the cease-fire and then somehow hold the peace.

So far I have 15 Eisernkern stormtroopers more or less built, they currently form three 5 man fire teams:

There will be still four more fire teams so 20 more stormtroopers plus one full support weapon box (mortar, mg and cannon) plus the vehicle support in form of the Kellerkopf, that AT-ST and Secret Weapon  Miniatures 6x6 APC. Need to come up with a dropship and gunship type airframes at some point.

The Eisenkern footsloggers are supported by some heavy muscle (yes, I bought new GW stuff, naughty me!):

Statwise not at the level of stormtrooper team in firepower but close and in close combat better than stormtroopers. I think I will call them Ygrons ;) Hailing also from one of the Core Worlds they were sent along the stormtroopers to maintain peace and order in a war-torn planet/system.

As for opposition I am hoping to get a chance to purchase Quarn by Zombiesmith but unfortunately I haven't found an EU stockist for his products... anyone know any better? If not Quarn, I guess Kroot will be a plausible and cheap alternative.

Planet will be arid steppe and desert type so I can use some of the existing terrain I have and what I am planning to make anyways.

Rules wise thinking about the Tomorrow's War, I guess they might be suitable for this size of troops?

Yes, TW works fine for this scale.
You might need to do something about ranges as the core rules are written for a 15mm scale, but it works fine otherwise.

The Eisenkern troopers are great models.  I use them for Firefight 2.0.  Keep in mind though, if you are using Quar as opposition, they will be seriously dwarfed by the troopers.

These are really nice minis, but I struggle to visualise them as the "nice guys".

chromedog: Thanks, will look into the TW rules closer then.

Miantanomo: Thanks, more will be build and hopefully painted soon, just finishing some terrain pieces currently.

NickNascati: thanks for the heads up regarding the Quar. So far haven't found any stockist here in the EU for those so I might need to find other opposition :)

Duke Donald: Well they consider themselves the nice guys ;)

Thanks Diakon, I hope to have some progress with this. I was already getting out my spray cans to base paint stuff but then winter sort of returned (well, no snow actually, just below 0 C) so I had to come up with something else. Got some work done on terrain and then found few unbuilt Elysians...

Now, some of the final poses do look quite horrific and I now once again understand why I hate so much wee tiny resin bits... Still need to add the shoulder pads, the mere thought of that task does give me a headache :)

One more problem related to these is that I have already one squad and a number of heavy weapons painted by a pal and now if I'm to paint these new ones I need to paint the older painted ones anew as I am not able to match the earlier standard thus I need to make them look worse, oh the irony.

All in all there is going to be about 40 or so Elysians plus heavy support weapons... I think they just became a new faction in the battle for hearts and minds (and resources) of the war-torn planet ;)
