Scary Woods warband
« on: 05 June 2015, 11:22:22 PM »
I’m trying to put together a warband based on a scary woods theme of around 10-12 figures for a skirmish game.

I have three Elfball Deadling haunted trees to start, these guys are going to be the heavy hitters, but am looking for a spellcaster, some missle troops and some cannon fodder.

all in 28mm
any suggestions?

Later warbands I want to do are a harvest band based around scarecrow and pumpkin figures, an evil toy warband, undead pirates.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it anymore and what is it seems weird and scary.

Have you looked at GW's Dryads & Treekin for Warhammer?

yes but I don't want a whole warband made up of trees, I'm looking for scary things you would find in a dark wood

Well, thats a bit different than 'scary woods'. Are you thinking of 'haunted forest' ?

There was also a "forest spirit dragon" available from that Crucible line, but it seems to have disappeared. Might be available on the secondary market. I swear I saw a couple in one of the local stores in Iron Wind Metal packaging.

A "Pan's Labyrinth" style faun could be another idea, too.

Barbarella: What's that screaming? A good many dramatic situations begin with screaming...

You might find a few weird pieces in the Four A miniatures range.

There is a little Imp playing with a severed head and another little Demonic type with a leg.

Spell caster?

Take a look at the Fanticide range too. The fae, in particular.  They have Sprites,  Brownies,  Satyres, a hag stone etc.

All things i'm doing (though not just for one warband) so may be ideas for you.

GW Fenbeast
Malifaux Waldergeists
Malifaux bad JuJu (Mire golem)
Malifaux Molemen (personally I prefer the OOP metal ones)
Tale of war Loran (mage type character)
Evil Gnomes (e.g. Blood caps)
Croc Games Wargods Satyr
Enigma Eweling
PP Farrow Bone grinders
PP Lord of the feast (oversized humanoid figure looks very menacing)
Evil mushroom creatures (the hasslefree ones mentioned above are great little guys (but they are very little), i'm also converting a big one out of a monsterpocalypse figure.
