Good painting guides for basic, crisp miniatures?

I'm by no means a beginner at painting, and have experimented with highlighting and shading, but am wondering if there are any good guides to paint some nice, sharp miniatures.  I'm not talking award winning, but something that is clean, and with simple but effective shading and highlighting techniques.

I've looked at guides before, but often it is difficult to tell where the paint one the model was actually applied when it comes to highlighting and such.  I suppose this could be broken down into parts, such as faces, hands, clothing, armor, boots, etc.  I was going to dip my Warhammer figures, but with only ten or so models in a group, it seems like a shame to not put a bit more effort.

Unless you're speaking specifically in relation to painting snow or something, you would probably be better served asking the workbench board this question.

You might try watching some videos on youtube perhaps? They are pretty good at demonstrating techniques, and it shouldn't be too hard to find what you want. For example what about something like this?

To be honest, it's a matter of practice.

I know that sounds like it's not much help, but (and it's a big but!, if you try and block the colours in using a black undercoat as neatly as possible (d=before adding your layers) leaving the requisite amount of black lining it will go a long way towards getting a crisp result without having to follow anyone's step-by-step. After all, you want to develope an individual style of painting and this methods will really help you with that!

Then add as many layers as you're comfortable with. Three is usually enough (though I often use five or up to seven in some cases!)
